Denver ranked among the top food cities in the country

Denver is one of the top cities in the country for food lovers, according to a report from WalletHub. Denver ranked 18th overall when considering several categories. While Denver wasn’t ranked first, the Mile High City was tied for first place in the number of craft breweries and wineries per capita and also ranked first for affordability and access to highly-rated restaurants.

The ranking takes into account a range of factors not just to quality and diversity of restaurants but also the wider food-related environment of each city, including cost of restaurant meals and groceries, access to healthy food options, coffee and tea shops per capita, and food festivals.

The top 20 cities, according to the report, are: San Francisco, CA; Portland, OR; New York, NY; Los Angeles, CA; Miami, FL; Orlando, FL; Austin, TX; Las Vegas, NV; San Diego, CA; Seattle, WA; Tampa, FL; Atlanta, GA; Chicago, IL; Philadelphia, PA; Sacramento, CA; Houston, TX; St. Louis, MO; Denver, CO; Washington, DC; and Cincinnati, OH.

The report did not take into account how some things have changed dramatically with the riots and crime increases that have plagued Portland, New York, Chicago, Washington DC, and elsewhere.

Denver was also noted by another survey for its diversity of ethic food restaurants and the number of quality restaurants representing or featuring standard American fare, such as steakhouses, plus Italian, Mexican, Seafood (including Cajun), Asian, and French.
